runnar app
introduction
Looking back to how mPerks started, a rewards program that was very outdated and not engaging for the users. The users would occasionally get rewards during checkout at the POS machine, or they would get coupons mailed to their house. There was a online experience where you could go clip coupons, but most people would forget to do this or not even know it existed. This started the conversation of mPerks 4.0, a completely user centric rewards program that was going to excite the users in a new gamified experience.
That is where the mPerks rebranding came into place. Going off the Meijer brand that everyone knows and loves, mPerks already established a brand that resonated with their loyal customers. So we wanted to build off of what the users are already seeing with this brand. So I took what was already their and pushed it to the next level, a fresh new look for mPerks that would get people excited to save money!

my role
I was the lead designer for the Runnar project, steering the design direction and spearheading the initial discovery phase. Collaborating closely with the Runnar team, I played a key role in establishing the project's identity, crafting branding elements that resonated with their vision. Delving into user insights, I developed personas to inform our design decisions, ensuring a user-centric approach. The design journey progressed through the creation of wireframes, providing a visual blueprint for the app's structure and functionality. Through iterative prototyping, we refined the user experience, addressing feedback and optimizing the design. Leading into the development of a fully flushed-out prototype, serving as the foundation for the fully developed beta version. The end result was a meticulously designed web app that provided a robust solution for Newco Design Build's internal use and paving the way for future enhancements based on user feedback.

personas
Moving forward in the project, the next step involved a deep dive into persona development to identify and understand the main target audience for Runnar's multifaceted applications. With a roadmap that included the creation of an admin system and the MVP beta version of their web app, it was imperative to outline the key individuals integral to the solution. From vendors to drivers, project managers to superintendents, and admin users, each member played a crucial role in the holistic build of this user experience. Listing and thoroughly understanding the unique needs and perspectives of each user category became a foundational element of the project, ensuring that the eventual solution catered to the diverse roles within the construction supply delivery process. This approach laid the groundwork for a user-centric design that addressed the specific requirements of every stakeholder involved.

user flow
We added dimension to Meijer’s current digital visual language to seamlessly integrate mPerks gamification into their existing platforms. By pairing gamified elements with best practices in UX to entice users to engage further with mPerks. Gamifying the point system to really encourage customers to engage even more.
We also utilized Meijer’s current brand to aid in the new visual language so the users would see familiar elements and have a feeling of trust. From there we applied this visual language to screens and brought it to life with a new transformational experience. Built to respond on all IOS and Android platforms, as well as working omni-channel with our web team and creating an entire responsive web experience.
